Gone are the days of the popcorn ceilings, that is unless you like the style. However, they are known to be major dust collectors, as well as they often get stained as well. If you have found it is time to update, here are some tips for you to follow: - Get it checked for asbestos fibers-there is only a small amount of these ceilings that contain them but we advise you to use caution.
- Use a ceiling-texture scraper to remove the old finish-This tool is a handle, blade, and a platic bag. This will make for a much cleaner job.
- Apply three coats of joint compound-Apply two coats, then sand the surface before applying the third.
- Paint with drywall primer
- Paint with flat ceiling paint-It will hide imperfections better than a glossy paint
- For the easiest texture, use the "knockdown" finish-Thin your joint compound with water and apply it to the ceiling with a medium-nap paint roller. Once the compound is almost dry use a wide trowel over the surface of the ceiling. Now you are able to use your glossy paint to create whatever type of appeal you are looking for.

As modern technology advances, we are developing tools to make our life easier. To the expert painter perhaps a paint brush is not so bad. However, for the rest of us it is tedious and difficult. Perhaps, it is time to look into an automatic sprayer For most painters, gone are the days of the rollers and brushes and they have moved on to pneumatic sprayers. There are many advantages to a sprayer over brushes including: - It saves time. It takes weeks with brushes and rollers
- Quality. Sprayers leave and clean and smooth look to the painter surface.
- It cuts costs for everyone. The painter needs less help and therefore pays less laborers. Typically, this savings is past on to the customer.
- Convenience and Customer Service. The homeowner will have a finished product much sooner, which means contractors, trucks, and paint cans will be out of their way faster.
So if you are still using that old paint brush, it may be time to look into an automatic sprayer or finding a painter who can use his or hers. |

If you are about to set up a service call because your clothing dryer does not heat. Wait just one minute! There are two questions you need to ask: - Does my dryer heat at all?
- Is there no heat?
If your dryer does not heat at all, go ahead and set up that service call to have a technician to come repair your dryer. If your heats but is just slow to dry, don't set up that service call just yet. The reality is that you have an airflow problem, hence, a ventialtion issue. When is the last time you changed your dryer filter? Check the filter first. If you have not been changing the filter it may be possible that you will need someone to come and take your dryer apart and clean out the lint that is inside the dryer. However, before jumping to that conclusion. Check the vent behind the dryer. Is the vent hose packed with lint? If so, clean it out and test the dryer. If there is still an issue you may need the vent cleaned inside the wall. Last of all, I would have a technician come out to clean the inside of the dryer and check the themostats (it is rare that these go bad by improper cycling, it is more common for them to stop functioning all together and then there would be no heat.) |
